Once again this year, LIFE is participating in the Feinstein Foundation's Million Dollar Challenge to Feed the Hungry (www.feinsteinfoundation.org). The intent of the Million Dollar Challenge is to raise awareness of hunger throughout America, and is a challenge to local non-profit agencies to raise money to feed the hungry in their Communities.
To participate, LIFE will be working on raising funds from March 1 to April 30, 2008. The more money LIFE collects during this time period, the more the Feinstein Challenge will add to your donations. In addition to money donated, food items donated in response to the Challenge will be valued at $1 per item and included in our totals. LIFE will report to the Feinstein Foundation in May, with the expectation that we will receive a portion of the million dollars in July. LIFE will use the money collected to buy food from the FreeStore/FoodBank and elsewhere to keep the Pantry stocked.
LIFE (Loveland Inter Faith Effort) is a local agency that will be sharing in that money to benefit the hungry in our community. In 2007, the Food Pantry had a 21.5% increase in clients that sought out the pantry for assistance. We serviced 3,951 clients in 2007 and there is an anticipated increase to approximately 4200 clients in 2008. The need is greater than ever for the families of Loveland. The LIFE Food Pantry relies heavily on donated nonperishable and canned food, and couldn't function without the support of our neighborhoods, schools, churches and the food they collect. We also greatly appreciate the people who respond to the Pantry' s specific requests sent out via the e-mail list. Loveland residents demonstrate their caring concern and generosity on a daily basis!
Food items can be dropped off at the LIFE Food Pantry located at Prince of Peace Church, 101 South Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140. You can call 583-8222 for the hours the pantry is open. Please send your check to LIFE at 101 South Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140. Please consider participating in this Million Dollar Challenge Project! Be sure that your donations of both money and food are marked "Feinstein Challenge" so that we can count them in the Challenge. Remember, to be counted in the project, the money and food has to be collected in March and April.
